BOAT TRIPS

The Bazaruto Archipelago that consists of Bazaruto Island and five smaller islands, which include the famous Paradise Island, are adjacent to Star of Mozambique, merely a fourty-five minute boat trip. On a clear day Bazaruto Island is visible from the deck at Star of Mozambique.

A boat trips to Paradise Island will consist of visiting the island and viewing the Portuguese ruins that were once magnificent hotels and dwelling. Picnic on the island beach, snorkeling the beautiful clear waters surrounding the islands, and soaking up the sun are all activities that on can look forward to on our boat trips.


Paradise Island, also known as Ilha Santa Carolina, hosted the Survivor South Africa series in 2010 and inspired the legendary Bob Dylan to write his song "Mozambique".

FISHING

At StarofMoz guests will come face to face with fulfilling their dream fishing experience. The Bazaruto Archipelago is home to a number of sought after species. Blue, black and striped marling as well as sailfish are common hook-ups. Other game-fish species such as barracuta, wahoo, and tuna patrol the water around the Bazaruto Archipelago. Bottom fish are always prsent and it's hard to beat a fresh catch on the BBQ.
For our fly fisherman the rockey outcrops on the shores of Paradise Island will keep you busy for hours. A strict catch and release policy is adhered to when fishing around Paradise Island.
Our experienced skippers are ready and waiting to get our 24" ski-boat in the water and take you to what you want to hook-up.
We at StarofMoz believe on conservation and only keep what we need. We are pro catch and release and hope you feel the same.

BIRDING

Mozambique is the proud host of over 600 recorded bird species. The Inhambane Province is listed as one of the top bird areas of the country and cover 3 hot spot bird sites namely Limpopo River Floodplain, Panda Woodlands, and Unguane. Bazaruto National Park is also a popular site for birders. Species such as pink-backed pelican, black heron, southern hyliota, black-headed apalis, green tinkerbird, and plain-backed sunbird are but a few of the many that can be seen.

These popular sites are all assessable by road travel from StarofMoz and can be included in your visit with us. 4x4 is needed for most of the routes to these areas.

Although many bird species are spotted around the lodge, the immediate area and on our trips to Bazaruto Archipelago, you are more than welcome to contact us should you wish to include a visit to one of these hot spot bird sites during your stay at StarofMoz.

TOURS

Mozambique is a popular tourist destination and attracks many 4x4 enthusiasts yearly. This beautiful country offers countless wildlife and sealife attractions, adventurous activities, and interesting historic and modern destinations.

A day trip to Bartholomeu Dias, also known as BD Point, is a mere 30 km beach drive from StarofMoz. BD Point is popular for its mangrove swamps and beautiful lagoons. Beach permits are compulsay and can be purchased in Inhassoro.

SCUBA DIVING & SNORKELING

The beautiful waters of the Bazaruto Archipelago are of the top diving sites in and around Inhassoro. With rare sightings of dugong, there is a diverse variety of sea life that will make this trip one to remember. Whale sharks are frequent visitors and the friendly dolphins can't wait for our guests to come and say “OLÁ”. Come and experience dive sites that has not been seen by many divers. Our experienced dive team will cater for all our guests' needs from novice to advanced divers.

For our non-underwater breathing guests, StarofMoz offers breathtaking snorkeling sites around Paradise Island. Don't forget to explore the seahorse heards in the kelp forests that is walking distance from the lodge.

Our aim is to have a fully operational dive charter in the near future, which will offer guests training, equipment hire and a complete workshop to keep our diving equipment in tip-top shape.
